It’s unclear exactly what the Russian president meant when he said, “Many European countries.” Serbia and Belarus, a satellite of Serbia, also enjoy cordial ties with Russia in addition to Hungary. Putin commended the Hungarian government for expanding trade connections with Russia, but he also acknowledged that these ties had severely weakened this year.
