About a hundred cruise ship passengers were injured during a storm off the coast of Spain. The British news agency PA reports this on the authority of the British shipping company Saga Cruises.
SPAIN, NOV 07 (Telegraph News) — The ship, the ‘Spirit of Discovery’, had left last weekend on a fourteen-day trip to the Canary Islands. Due to the bad weather, the stop in Las Palmas had already been canceled and the crew wanted to dock in the port of La Coruna, but it was closed. It was then decided to return to the United Kingdom, but the ship was caught in a storm in the Bay of Biscay.
During the storm, the propulsion safety system was activated, causing the ship to turn abruptly to the left and come to a stop. About a hundred passengers were injured, the majority of whom escaped with minor injuries. Five passengers required treatment at the ship’s medical center. The ship has now re-moored in Portsmouth harbour.
