In a heated interview with Bloomberg, Trump says that the GOP is the “party of common sense”

In a heated interview with Bloomberg News in Chicago on Tuesday, the former president claimed that the Republican Party is “the party of common sense”.

At the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump took a seat for an interview with John Micklethwait, the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News. The two had a contentious, nearly hour-long discussion in which they talked about Trump’s economic policies for a hypothetical second term.

After discussing the economy for a while, Micklethwait turned to the presidential contest and asked the outgoing president which state he thought would be most important in determining the winner.

“They mention Pennsylvania. We’re doing great, in my opinion, there. Trump remarked, “I think you look at Michigan, too, and I’m doing very well.” Way up in Pennsylvania, that is. We’re in Michigan, way up high. Here in Arizona, everything are going great. In fact, it appears that we will be a long way ahead, so someone in Arizona said they were going to give it up and pull the plug.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, the RealClearPolitics polling average indicated that Trump was marginally ahead in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Michigan.

The Republican Party, according to Trump, is “the party of common sense.”

Liberals, forget about conservatism. We consider ourselves to be conservatives, but in reality, we are a “We need borders” party. Elections must be fair. Men shouldn’t participate in women’s sports. Without parental approval, we do not want transgender surgeries,” Trump clarified. 99.9% of it is common sense. It makes perfect sense. We really are a common sense party, I say, and we want wonderful people in our nation.”

Trump went on, “My heart is pure. I want people to be taken care of because I have compassion. However, I refuse to admit individuals in situations where millions of people—at least 21 million—have entered undetected and unvetted during the previous three and a half years. Nothing about them is known to us.”
