More than 35 million residents have been summoned to the polls to choose who will rule Spain’s more than 8,000 municipalities, as well as who will administer some autonomous communities.

The destiny of (nearly) all Spanish towns and a big portion of the autonomous administrations will be decided this Sunday.

What you should know about the elections?

This 28M, more than 35 million individuals will be called to the polls.
Municipal elections are held in almost 8,000 towns throughout Spain, with the exception of Galicia, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Andalusia, and Castilla y León.

Between 9:00 and 20:00, polling booths are available for voting.
Only in two autonomous communities, Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha, could an absolute majority be attained, according to surveys.

The outcomes of these elections will determine the outcome of the general elections, which will be conducted at the end of the year.
