The day of the runoff election in Turkey is nearing, while polls are closed abroad

Election in Turkey 2023: Voting abroad for the second round of Turkey’s presidential elections finished with a record turnout and suitcases full of vote papers sent from across the world to Ankara.

1.86 million Turks voted, and their votes may tip the scales in favor of incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan or his social-democratic opponent Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Despite the economic crisis and 20 years in power, Erdogan came close to an outright majority in the first round.

“With God’s help, these elections will bring about change.” People will no longer need to go outside since the economy is improving. “I wish people would stay in Turkey because brain drain is a serious problem,” remarked student Yiit enciol.

However, if the youth desire change, so do the citizens of the districts impacted by the February earthquake. Many of them believe they have been abandoned.

“This is not a political issue for me.” I’d vote for whoever gets rid of Erdogan. Kilicdaroglu or someone else might be the culprit. I don’t mind. Erdogan buried us alive and did nothing to aid us. “I have not received any assistance until today,” claimed Antakia resident Sema Sicek.

Turkey’s elections will take place on Sunday, and the electoral figures favor Erdogan. Nationalist candidate Sinan Ogan, who earned 5% of the vote in the first round, has now endorsed the president.
