Two cargo ships collided in the German Bight in the North Sea on Tuesday morning. One person was killed. Two people could be rescued and a search is underway for four missing people.
GERMANY, Oct 23 (Telegraph News) – The Polesie and the Verity collided around 5 a.m. The last cargo ship, 91 meters long and 14 meters wide, sank. There were seven people on board. One of them died, two people could be rescued and the search continues for the four others.
The accident happened about 22 kilometers southwest of the island of Heligoland and 31 kilometers northeast of the island of Langeoog.
The Verity sails under the British flag and was en route from Bremen to Immingham, British. The Polesie, 190 meters long and 29 meters wide, sails under the flag of the Bahamas and was en route from Hamburg to La Coruna, Spain.
