Interior Minister of France, Gerald Darmanin, has ordered the dissolution of the Civitas party after one of its members had suggested Jews should be denied French citizenship as they were in the 18th century
Pierre Hillard had told a meeting last month that “maybe we should go back to how things were before 1789”.
Darmanin responded on X (formerly Twitter) that he “firmly condemned these despicable comments.” Civitas has lobbied against same-sex marriage and is notoriously anti-immigration.
