The spectre of terrorism has returned to Germany

Seven people were arrested in the country’s west on accusations of forming an Islamist terrorist cell and assisting the brutal extremist group Islamic State.

Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan are among those detained. They were detained in North Westphalia, Germany.”

“Prosecutors claim these individuals entered Germany shortly after Russia commenced its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 with the intent of “carrying out high-level terrorist attacks using ISIS tactics.”

According to the investigators, they had even identified potential targets for assaults and attempted to procure firearms.

Six of them had been raising finances for the Islamic State since April 2022, and had transmitted payments to the terror organisation on a regular basis.

However, it is not thought that they were able to construct a solid plan for the planned strikes.

The arrested are scheduled to appear in court very shortly.

Police in the Netherlands recently reported the arrest of two people on terrorism-related charges, a man from Tajikistan and his wife.

They were both in continuous communication with certain suspects in Germany.
