Dublin, Ireland is considering imposing a 3-month limit on how long migrants can take up space in state housing before they have to get accommodation of their own, according to the Irish Examiner
DUBLIN, Oct 23 (Telegraph News) – Ireland is struggling with a broader housing shortage which has already seen students displaced from university campuses in order to house people coming into the country, and a swathe of people also being plopped into sports halls and tents.
Ireland has taken in nearly 100,000 Ukrainians since February 2022, and by September, around 72,000 were in the care of the Irish state.
If the situation does not change, the cost of housing Ukrainians alone will soar to 2.5 billion euros – half of government spending across all of its departments in 2024.
