French President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his trip to Tirana, Albania, following a stabbing attack in the French city of Nice that left three people dead
Macron was due to meet with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on Thursday to discuss a range of issues, including Albania’s bid to join the European Union.
However, the French president announced on Wednesday that he would be postponing his trip in order to “be with the families of the victims and to support the French people in this difficult time.”
The attack in Nice took place on Wednesday morning when a man armed with a knife stabbed several people in a church. The attacker was eventually shot and killed by police.
The French government has said that the attack is being treated as a terrorist incident.
Macron’s decision to postpone his trip to Tirana is a sign of the seriousness of the attack in Nice. It is also a reminder of the threat of terrorism that France faces.
