The Polish president wants Ukraine to join NATO

Ukraine to join NATO? Polish President Andrzej Duda has urged NATO members to provide Kiev with a clear route for joining the Alliance.

“Ukraine is waiting for a clear signal about a clear prospect of NATO membership,” Duda stated on June 12 in Paris, following talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

The Weimar Triangle, or trilateral meetings including Germany, France, and Poland, began in 1991 at Weimar, Germany.

The negotiations were initially intended to draw Poland and other Eastern European countries closer to the European Union and NATO.

In April, Germany authorized Poland’s request to send five outdated MiG-29 fighter planes to Ukraine in order to boost its air defenses against the Russian incursion.
