Serbia’s President Vucic resigns as leader of the ruling party

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, resigned from the leadership of the ruling party, SNS or the Serbian Progressive Party, as he had warned the day before.

During a meeting of its structures in Kragujevac, Vui requested that his place at the helm of this political movement be assumed by Milosh Vuevic, the Minister of Defense and a prominent official of this party.

“Miloshi is dedicated to the SNS and the concept of an independent and prosperous Serbia,” Vucic stated in his address. The Serbian president already stated that he will launch a new movement on May 28. He did, however, state that he will remain a member of the SNS party.

As he has stated, the movement he aims to establish will be broader than the SNS since his goal is for those who are not members of the party to engage in it. During his address in Kragujevac, he also emphasized the situation in Kosovo’s north.

Following the escalation of tensions in the region, Serbia increased the battle preparedness of its armed forces to the maximum level.

“The intention of the Western states is to issue a statement condemning the authorities in Kosovo in order to satisfy us, but what should we be satisfied with, with the new reality that violates all international laws and norms?”

“The Serbian people’s resistance in Kosovo will be stronger, hopefully through peaceful means,” Vucic said.
