Ukraine is getting ready to begin a counteroffensive, says Zelensky

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has stated that his country is prepared to start a long-awaited counter-offensive to free territory held by Russian soldiers.

He did, however, warn that the counteroffensive will be costly.

“We are confident that we will triumph,” Zelensky stated in an interview published on June 3 in the American daily the Wall Street Journal.

“I’m not sure how long it will last.” To be honest, a lot of things may happen and things can go in many different directions. But we will begin, and we are prepared,” he stated.

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian army did not get “all of the weapons it hoped for, but we can’t wait any longer.”

He stated last month that his country requires more armaments, especially military equipment, before launching the long-awaited counter-offensive.

For months, Ukraine’s president has been pleading with the West for greater military help and weaponry.

Russia currently controls areas in Ukraine’s east, south, and southeast.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine urgently needs additional Patriot missile defense systems built in the United States to safeguard its civilians from Russian airstrikes.

He said that because of the absence of support from Russian aircraft, “a large number of soldiers will die” during the counteroffensive.

Ukraine’s conflict began on February 24, 2022.

The battle, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is a “special military operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.

The West has retaliated against Russia by imposing punishing sanctions on its economy.

Thousands of people have perished as a result of the war, and millions more have been forced to flee their homes.
