Somalia, 21 million dollars disappear from the state treasury

The inquiry into corruption in Somali governmental organizations has shown that 21 million dollars have vanished from the state coffers.

The stolen $21 million, according to a statement from Somalia’s National Inspectorate General, was collected for the purpose of delivering services and extending work licenses for foreign employees working in the nation from March 8, 2018 to April 9, 2023.

The report on inspections at public institutions and missing money is alleged to have been shared with the Chief Prosecutor’s Office.

It should be highlighted that officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, government employees, and people from other institutions such as the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank were among those accused of stealing the money.
