Poland will reject the EU’s proposals to impose mandatory migration quotas on all member nations

We continue to oppose any program of forced relocation of migrants and will do so in the future.

Poland, on the other hand, provides different sorts of operational help to our allies, particularly in the EU’s south, where migrant flows occur, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday.

The European Commission wants to offer a fresh proposal for asylum and migration reform in order to address the challenges of southern European nations caused by the surge of migrants.

A system of “mandatory solidarity” is proposed, in which nations might choose between relocation, financial, and operational assistance.

The European Commission proposes a “mandatory solidarity system.”

Operational support might entail, for example, giving technical help to nations dealing with a refugee influx, such as tents or humanitarian aid. However, this would have to be requested by a nation that is dealing with a migrant surge.

In fact, governments would have just two options: relocate migrants or pay a financial equivalent of 22,000 euros for each migrant they refuse to take.

Poland and several EU member states are opposed to the relocation idea.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was questioned about the European Commission’s ideas and how Poland plans to join in this solidarity.

He said that Poland “provides various types of operational assistance to our partners, particularly from the southern European Union, where these migration movements occur.”

He remembered that in June 2018, “a very important European Council took place, the conclusions of which from the Polish, Czech, and Hungarian sides were de facto adopted in the conclusions of the European Council”

“We did not agree then, and we still do not agree with any forced relocation scheme,” he explained.
