Emilia Romagna is a disaster. At least 13,000 people have been evacuated, with nine reported fatalities

The severe weather that killed nine people in Emilia-Romagna continues: the red warning is in effect in Romagna today.

The level of all rivers remains above the emergency level, and fresh floods are forecast, potentially straining the damaged banks.

New floods were observed in Ravenna throughout the night. Evacuations have begun at Castel Bolognese, also in the province of Ravenna, where there has been a drinking water shortage.

“We are witnessing an enormous drama,” says the mayor of Forlì. On May 23rd, the CDM declared an emergency. “In 50 years, 5 thousand victims and 140 billion dollars spent on disasters, prevention is required,” Musumeci said.

According to foreign media, a 14-kilometer queue has formed on the A1 Milan-Naples, between Sasso Marconi in the north and the junction with the A1 Direttissima in the direction of Florence, due to a large landslide caused by heavy rain in the last hours.

Due to the potential of flooding, the municipality of Ravenna has issued an emergency evacuation order for residents and businesses in Villanova di Ravenna, Filetto, and Roncalceci. The municipality of Ravenna has advised residents to minimize their travels in this region.
