The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the terrorist incident that shook Moscow this evening, in which masked and armed individuals opened fire in a music hall, killing 115 people and injuring 100 more
On March 7, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had foiled an Islamic State cell’s plot to assault a synagogue in Moscow.
The terrorist incident elicited an instant international reaction, with the United States stressing that there was no indication that Ukrainians were hiding behind it. The European Union denounced the heavy attack on civilians. On the other hand, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned Ukraine that if it was involved in the attack, it would face a “devastating” retaliation.
The United States warned Russia some weeks ago that it could be the target of terrorist attacks.
The photographs disseminated in the media and social networks show the moment when 6,200 people at a rock music band’s concert are startled by gunfire and attempt to flee for their lives.
The hall caught fire after the attackers, believed to be three or five persons, flung grants. Foreign media have not reported whether the aggressors have been detained. /Telegraph News
