The European Parliament has approved legislation governing the use of artificial intelligence

The European Parliament adopted the artificial intelligence regulation today by a vote of 499 to 28, limiting how corporations and law enforcement might utilize this technology.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Homeland Security is investigating the use of artificial intelligence to assist in the identification of commodities created with child or forced labor.

Companies will face stricter constraints if they employ artificial intelligence in high-risk circumstances, such as targeting minors, under the bill, including greater openness and more accurate data usage.

Corporations who violate this rule face fines of up to $33 million or 6% of their yearly income, which can reach billions of dollars in the case of big corporations like Google and Microsoft.

The employment of human identification programs in public places is prohibited by law.
