Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite communications firm currently has a Defense Department contract to purchase these satellite services for Ukraine.
The Pentagon made the announcement. According to a Pentagon news statement, “we continue to work with a variety of global partners to ensure that Ukraine has the resilient satellite and communications capabilities it needs.”
Starlink is a satellite internet firm that delivers ultra fast internet connectivity in even the most difficult locations on the planet, from rural places with highly spotty network coverage to active combat zones like Ukraine.
Musk earlier promised to keep Starlink internet functioning in Ukraine “for free,” despite the fact that it was losing money.
However, earlier this year, the business stirred controversy in Ukraine when it said that it had taken efforts to prevent its service from being controlled by drones. The business stated that Starlink was not intended to be used for “attack purposes.”
