On Sunday, October 15, the Israeli military said that it would continue to permit Gazans to flee south, with hundreds of thousands already doing so, as its troops prepared for a ground assault on the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in response to unprecedented attacks
Israel has pledged to eradicate the terrorist organization Hamas after its fighters stormed through Israeli towns, shooting men, women, and children and taking hostages in the most severe attack on civilians in the country’s history.
In the unexpected onslaught, around 1,300 people were killed. Graphic mobile phone videos and reports from medical and emergency services detailing atrocities in the overrun towns and kibbutzes deepened Israel’s sense of shock.
“We are relocating the populace to Nahal Aaza (the Gaza stream) in the south. Thousands of people have already been evacuated, and the evacuation is still going on, according to Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari of the Defence Ministry in Tel Aviv.
