Another 16 people were injured in the blast late Saturday, believed to have been caused by a Russian S-300 missile, Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov said on social media.

All the victims were employees of the private Ukrainian postal service Nova Poshta. In a statement, the company said the air raid siren had gone off just moments before the attack, not giving workers enough time to take cover.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the strike was an attack on an “ordinary civilian object”. “We must respond to Russian terror every day with results on the front lines. And moreover, we must strengthen global unity to fight against this terror”, he said on social networks.

And in the Kharkiv region, three people were injured by Russian bombings in the city of Kupiansk, Governor Syniehubov said. The frontline city has been at the center of fierce fighting as Moscow and Kiev scramble to make breakthroughs on the battlefield before winter sets in.
