More than half of Ukrainian refugees in the EU live in Germany and Poland

More than half of the 4 million Ukrainian refugees given asylum in the European Union (EU) dwell in Germany or Poland

According to Eurostat, “over 4 million non-EU citizens who left Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022 had temporary protection statuses in EU countries,” referring to the most latest data, which was compiled on May 31.

The most Ukrainian migrants are being housed in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Germany provided asylum to over 1.1 million individuals, or 28 percent of all Ukrainian refugees; Poland provided refuge to over 991 thousand people; and the Czech Republic provided refuge to over 340 thousand people.

In comparison to April, the number of Ukrainians given temporary asylum climbed by 1.4 percent, or approximately 54,300 persons.

Women aged 35-65 made up the largest group of Ukrainian refugees in the EU, accounting for 46 percent, with children accounting for 34.6 percent.
