Russia today condemned the decision by Denmark and the Netherlands to provide F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, stressing that the move would escalate the conflict
Denmark and the Netherlands announced on Sunday that they will supply Ukraine with F-16s, six of which are expected to be delivered early next year.
“The fact that Denmark has now decided to donate 19 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine leads to an escalation of the conflict.
Hiding behind the assumption that Ukraine should determine the conditions for peace itself, Denmark seeks with its actions to leave Ukraine with no other choice but to continue the military confrontation with Russia,” said the Russian ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, in a statement.
Danish Defense Minister Jakob Elleman-Jensen said that Ukraine will be able to use the fighter jets provided only within its territory.
“We offer weapons on the condition that they are used to expel the enemy from the territory of Ukraine. And for nothing beyond that”, the Danish Minister of Defense emphasized today.
