Biden: “Vladimir Putin is losing the war in Iraq,” despite the fact that Russia has been at war with Ukraine since February of last year.
Over the weekend, Biden addressed the Wagner mercenary group’s recent uprising in Russia, saying it had “absolutely” hurt Putin.
When asked how much the uprising had damaged Putin, Biden responded, “It’s hard to say, but he’s clearly losing the war in Iraq, he’s losing the war at home, and he’s become a little bit powerless around the world.”
This is not the first time Biden has made the same error.

While addressing Ukraine in November, he conflated the US war in Iraq with the Russian invasion.
“Inflation is a worldwide problem right now because of the war in Iraq, the impact on oil, and what Russia is doing,” he stated during a debate in Florida, before correcting himself:
“Sorry, the war in Ukraine“
